    I spent months looking for ballet clothing for my 48 year old body. I went to 5 local ballet shops and found size up to L which was a small in anything else. Thin straps, low back etc. Online was either stick thin professionals or Amazon cookie cutter. It really made me feel like I was either all alone or should give up and give in. Thanks for this

    • @BrocheBallet
      @BrocheBallet 7 днів тому

      Since you mentioned in your other comment about your knee injury, definitely be careful to aim for airtime since the landing will be harsh on your knee! For now, less airtime is better :) If you do heal and return to it, I hope the tips in here about strengthening your core, back, hips, calves, and toes (as well as timing/coordination) will give you some higher level concept of what it entails to get off the floor.

    I have arthritis in my right knee and I’m meniscus tear. I have osteoarthritis in my right knee and there’s really nothing that I can do about it except I can either have surgery in terms of jumping on my right leg. I can’t. It’s just the right leg just feels weird. Just set up a portion of my body towards the end of class everyone’s jumping and I just I would love to jump, but I just can’t and I, kind of have a lot of strength Ballet every day at home in between classes, but jumping is just something I wish I could do I really do but I just don’t think I can. I feel frustrated.

    • @BrocheBallet
      @BrocheBallet 7 днів тому

      Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm so sorry to hear about the challenges you're facing with your knee. It's completely understandable to feel frustrated, especially when you have a passion for ballet. It's definitely important to prioritize your health and listen to your body. While jumping might not be feasible right now, there are still many ways to enjoy ballet and strengthen your body. Consulting with a physical therapist who understands dance can also provide you with tailored exercises to support your knee and help you stay active in ballet. In the meantime, if you haven't already, check out the first several facets on my podcast for more to sink your teeth into. Remember, ballet is not just about jumping. Your dedication and love for the art shine through in everything you do, and there are always ways to continue growing as a dancer within your limits!

    Yeah, I’m learning how to do that in classIt’s very hard I get so dizzy. I’m going to the right and going to the left I just and it’s fast and I just can’t keep up and so I get frustrated so I just kind of give up because of dizzy because, I’m not used to spitting around like that. It’s a little bit daunting.

    Hello, I really like your channel. I’ve been taking adult ballet classes at seven years. I really love ballet. I’m currently taking a workshop at the National Ballet Of Canada in Toronto on Sunday mornings. I love it. It’s an absolute beginner ballet. The only one of the things I’m really struggling with the strength and terms of my knee. I have osteoarthritis in my knee and meniscus tear so when it comes to jumping towards the end of the class, I can’t do it and I I feel kind of discouraged because I would love to jump and I see everyone else jumping and I can’t because I don’t. I can’t bend my knee that way I can’t. I don’t have enough power you know I don’t have enough strength so I feel kind of discouraged I guess but ballet makes other than that. Ballet makes me feel good. Helps me relax I love that. We have a pianist that our class and it’s just such a nice positive vibe, but I also have to be realistic and respect my body and know that there are certain things that I will never be able to to do and and that’s OK🩰

    PLEASE INTERVIEW MORE older people 40s, 50s, and 60s + who have re-started ballet! The questions I’m interested are: what was it like in their body to begin again? How did they acclimate to the movements of ballet at an older age? Did they have trouble with anything in particular? How did they overcome it? And what has dancing done for them now, emotionally and physically? (I’ve only seen you do this one time on one video:… as interesting as her life stories was, it’s hard to find time to listen to all of that. Hearing about their Ballet journey is more important!) I started ballet this year and my toes are so weak(?) out of my control(?) right now--it is crazy! I hope this gets better with time like you say in the video, haha, my brain is working 110% trying to coordinate my toes, and there's so many gaps and twitches right now. I don't really have the body awareness to feel confident in this yet. But the way you explained this in this video is helpful. Thank you.

    I've never seen this channel before but I subscribed immediately because I've been needing this video for YEARS! I have naturally flat feet which causes some problems for me, and my college roommate said learning ballet when they were a kid helped their flat arches and helped them have healthier feet. I didn't know how to find this video but God let the algorithm drop it in my recommended, so praise the Lord, and thank you for what you are doing! Your teaching is so clear and exactly what I need. Just doing these exercises has helped me gain a better understanding of my feet and how toes work, so hopefully this will help me even more in the future!
